Swing Bed Program

The Swing Bed Program at Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital (OKMH) provides a unique opportunity to maintain continuity of care following an acute illness or surgical event. Patients can remain in the hospital and transition to the Swing Bed program for extended skilled services. The program also accepts patients from other surrounding acute care facilities. This provides our local residents an opportunity to receive inpatient extended care closer to home.

Skilled services include the following:

Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Speech Therapy
IV Antibiotic Therapy
Respiratory Therapy
Wound Care

Our Swing Bed Program takes a patient centered approach to skilled care, encouraging family and friends to visit, giving the emotional support needed for well-being and recovery. There is an emphasis on education with the goal of increasing independence, decreasing anxiety, and promoting a natural transition to the home setting.
